Greetings! Welcome to the first ever “TREAT” Reads Blog Hop! These members of RRBC (Rave Reviews Book Club) have penned and published some really great reads and we’d like to honor and showcase their talent. Although there were maybe 3-4 winners who were previously on this list who are no longer with the club, now all of the listed Winners are RWISA members! Way to go RWISA!
We ask that you pick up a copy of the title listed and after reading it, leave a review. There will be other books on tour for the next few days, so please visit the HOP’S main page to follow along.
Also, for every comment that you leave along this tour, including on the HOP’S main page, your name will be entered into a drawing for an amazing gift card to be awarded at the end of the tour!
Today’s Featured Book: OUTSHINE by Karen Ingalls
Blurb: When Karen Ingalls was diagnosed with Stage IIC ovarian cancer, she realized how little she knew about what is called “the silent killer.” As Ingalls began to educate herself, she felt overwhelmed by the prevalent negativity of cancer. Lost in the information about drugs, side effects, and statistics, she redirected her energy to focus on the equally overwhelming blessings of life, learning to rejoice in each day and find peace in spirituality. In this memoir, Karen is a calming presence and positive companion, offering a refreshing perspective of hope with the knowledge that “the beauty of the soul, the real me and the real you, outshines the effects of cancer, chemotherapy, and radiation. It is a story of survival and reminds readers that disease is not an absolute, but a challenge to recover.

Karen, I read and reviewed your book. It was a walk into what you had to face and try to overcome. It had to be an overwhelming battle. Thank you for sharing your story so those having to deal with this will have some place to go as a reference point.
Congratulations on your tour.

Shirley, I appreciate your kind words. We all have challenges to face and though they may be different, it is how we respond and learn from them that matters.

Ovarian cancer is a lesser known cancer that affects 1 in 72 women. I wrote the book to provide information about ovca, and to offer ways of coping and facing any serious health condition. I do believe we can each “outshine” any challenge. Thank you, Mary for your comment.

I’m so pleased you are featured today, Karen. My cousin is presently dealing with ovarian cancer, my sister is recovering from breast cancer. Your beautiful book has helped me support them. Thank you for writing about challenges we’d rather ignore; you’ve helped so many of us. Thank you, Marcha, for hosting this lovely writing.

I pray that your cousin and sister are doing well. If your cousin wants to contact me and share, I would be glad to talk to her. She might be interested in following my blog at outshineovariancancer.blogspot.com, which is about health/wellness, relationships, and spirituality. Of course, I do have information about ovarian and other gynecologic cancers.

Thank you, Wendy. I know the journey with any serious illness is scary and life-changing which is one of the reasons i wrote this book. The second reason is because most women do not know anything about ovarian cancer. All proceeds go to gynecologic cancer research.

Thank you, Marcha for hosting my book today. Many people think it is just about ovarian cancer, but it is about facing a terminal illness (a challenge) and what resources I used to “outshine” it. An important read for anyone facing a health challenge.

Thanks for clarifying that, Karen. As a two-time cancer survivor myself, I definitely appreciated the books I read at that time that provided encouragement.
