This is a legitimate government function? With a protection of the public good? These busybodies should stick to parenting their own children and refrain from meddling in other families’ private decisions. Onerous reporting requirements from retailers is ridiculous. This guy in Colorado should be reminded about that first amendment in the Bill of Rights.

Colorado does tend to be out there a ways. On the other hand, there are so many incompetent parents in the world generally that sometimes the government has to step in. One thing that comes to mind is how they had to make it illegal to talk or text while driving in some places, which had the same accident rate as drunk driving. People don’t seem to have a very good track record governing themselves. We are mostly surrounded by idiots. There’s also the health issue with cell phones. Continual cell phone use at that age makes it all the easier for them to be brainwashed, too, as opposed to learning to think for themselves. Between cell phones and video games no telling what the upcoming generation will be like.
